Sensational Slovenian composer and double-bassist Gašper Livk is the richly deserving subject of an audacious five-album anthology, released by Clean Feed to coincide with a much-anticipated artist-in-residence appearance at this year’s Jazz Festival Ljubljana.

Recorded between 2022-2024, Introducing Gašper Livk harnesses this extraordinary musician’s remarkable breadth of vision and interminable chops, showcasing his disparate works for solo, duo and trio configurations, as well as a remarkable piano-loaded large ensemble and double-bass octet.

Each album here presents another compelling aspect of Livk’s already abundant and singular oeuvre, revealing ancillary layers of meaning and mood via exquisite forms palpitating with thought and spirit, articulating vividly textured traceries where immediate surface complexities reward further listening with a surfeit of fearless delights, boundless atmospheres and immersive labyrinthine narratives.
